You can now use the lifecycle rules of the Object Storage Service to control a lifecycle policy via tags. This makes it possible to only delete objects or transfer them to other storage classes when a previously defined tag have been assigned. This allows the data in OBS to be managed more cost-efficiently in a variety of ways.
For example, if you use tagging to assign data to a customer or a project, you can use the lifecycle rules to move all appropriately tagged data to a more cost-efficient storage class for archiving purposes or remove them from the OBS completely.
In addition, it is now also possible to automatically delete fragments from a failed “multipart upload” using lifecycle rules. This can now also be configured using the lifecycle rules.
