We are excited to announce the expansion of our Elastic Cloud Server portfolio with the new compute-optimized c9 flavor family. Powered by the 6th Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, the c9 flavors deliver substantial improvements in performance, efficiency, and scalability for compute-intensive workloads.
The ECS c9 family is available in two ratios: 1:2 and 1:4. These configurations are designed to meet diverse workload requirements, offering either a lean compute setup with the 1:2 ratio or additional memory capacity with the 1:4 ratio. Both variants leverage ultra-fast DDR5 RAM to ensure outstanding in-memory performance. Instance sizes now scale from 2 up to an impressive 192 vCPUs, with memory capacities ranging from 4 GB to 376 GB (1:2) and up to 752 GB (1:4).
Key Features and Benefits
- Improved performance: The new c9 family offers 40 - 50% higher performance compared to the previous generation and more than twice the performance of the c3 family.
- Improved network connectivity: All c9 flavors provide greater bandwidth and higher packet-per-second (PPS) throughput.
- Reduced network latency: The new network architecture allows network communication with less network latency compared to the previous generations.
- Improved Storage connectivity: The new network architecture enables higher storage bandwidth and more IOPS for connected EVS block devices.
- Optimized Pricing: All instances of the 9th Compute generation are available with convenient three-year reserved package options, ensuring even better cost efficiency.
This new compute generation represents a significant step forward in providing state of the art cloud computing technology combined with optimized pricing for high-performance workloads.

The new compute-optimized c9 instances can be created and managed just like other ECS instances. They support resizing and migration from existing compute-optimized families, making it easy to switch and take advantage of these new capabilities immediately. Backups can be done using Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) and all instances can be protected with the Host Security Service (HSS). Try them now!
