We are excited to announce the expansion of our Elastic Cloud Server portfolio with the new memory-optimized m9 flavor family. Powered by the 6th Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, the m9 flavors deliver substantial improvements in performance, efficiency, and scalability for memory-intensive workloads.
The ECS m9 family is available in the ratio 1:8. This configuration is designed to meet high memory workload requirements. These variants leverage ultra-fast DDR5 RAM to ensure outstanding in-memory performance. Instance sizes now scale from 2 up to an impressive 192 vCPUs, with memory capacities ranging from 16 up to 1504 GB (1:8).
Key Features and Benefits
- Improved performance: The new m9 family offers 40 - 50% higher performance compared to the previous generation and more than twice the performance of the m3 family.
- Improved network connectivity: All m9 flavors provide greater bandwidth and higher packet-per-second (PPS) throughput.
- Reduced network latency: The new network architecture allows network communication with less network latency compared to the previous generations.
- Improved Storage connectivity: The new network architecture enables higher storage bandwidth and more IOPS for connected EVS block devices.
- Optimized Pricing: All instances of the 9th ECS generation are available with convenient three-year reserved package options, ensuring even better cost efficiency.
This new compute generation represents a significant step forward in providing state of the art cloud computing technology combined with optimized pricing for high-performance workloads.

The new memory-optimized m9 instances can be created and managed just like other ECS instances. They support resizing and migration from existing memory-optimized families, making it easy to switch and take advantage of these new capabilities immediately. Backups can be done using Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) and all instances can be protected with the Host Security Service (HSS). Try them now!
