A new name and a much larger focus: The OpenStack Foundation is hosting a summit in the American city of Denver from April 29 to May 1. This time it is called the "Open Infrastructure Summit" instead of the "OpenStack Summit". By changing the name, the foundation wants to no longer limit the industry event to open source software for cloud computing, but rather expand it to include other open infrastructure topics such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and edge computing.

OpenStack-based cloud as the focus of Telekom’s presence

Around 3,000 IT experts, developers and other industry insiders are expected in Denver, where they can attend more than 300 keynotes, workshops and short talks on current developments and trends in open infrastructure. As in previous years, Deutsche Telekom will be present at the OpenStack community's three-day trade fair as headline sponsor with its own booth and a keynote speech. The Open Telekom Cloud, which is based on OpenStack, will be the focus of the Bonn-based ITC provider's presence at the trade fair. Deutsche Telekom's Hybrid Cloud will play a particularly important role in Denver: The hybrid cloud offering gives companies the opportunity to not only obtain proven cloud resources based on OpenStack from the public cloud, but also to use them on dedicated hardware.

Security, data protection, certificates and BSI-C5 attestation

IT security and data protection will be the other central topics at Telekom's booth in Denver: The Open Telekom Cloud is one of the most secure public cloud offerings in the world. This is demonstrated, among other things, by the numerous certificates already attained by the German data centers that host the Open Telekom Cloud. These include the Trusted Cloud Data Protection Profile (TCDP) in Version 1.0, the TISAX certificate, which is indispensable in the german automotive industry, and the ISO 27001 certificate based on the IT baseline protection catalog. The Open Telekom Cloud also received certification for the C5 requirements catalog from the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) based on SOC 2 Type 2 as early as 2018.

Creative AI: Artists from the cloud

Furthermore, there will be a real eye-catcher in Denver in the truest sense of the word: At the booth in the Colorado Convention Center, photos of trade fair visitors will quickly become works of art à la Picasso, Monet or Rembrandt. “Processing image data is one of the most complex applications available," says Anthony Clarke, Chief Technologist at Deutsche Telekom. "That's why our artistic AI is the perfect way to demonstrate the potential of our Open Telekom Cloud to the trade fair visitors.”
