CSS Common I/O storage class type will reach it’s EOS by July 1st, 2025

As by previous Release Notes for EVS called “EVS Common I/O reaches end-of-life on 01.01.2026” this change will affect also CSS instance deployments.

From July 1st, 2025, onwards it will no longer be possible to create new Cloud Search Service (CSS) using Common I/O disks, as it will reach their end-of-sales on this date and will no longer be marketed/available.

What does this mean for my current running/deployed CSS instances with Common I/O storage?

Existing instances with Common I/O will remain untouched and will be supported until they are changed into a higher class like High I/O or Ultra High I/O storage class. This means that you need to plan a "Change Storage Type" for your Common I/O disks in use.

Here the way how to modify the Common I/O disk specifications:

1. Select right from the CSS cluster “More” and select “Modify Configuration”:

2. Select Scale Cluster, then in Action select Change Specifications than select “Data node” and in Node Storage Type Column select a different storage type to be modified and as the last step select Next.

3. Submit the change by selecting “Submit

For Master and Client nodes:

4. Select from Step 2) select “Add Master/Client Node” instead of Scale Cluster, for Master Nodes select “Master Node” and for Client nodes, select “Client node” and select a different Storage type and finally select Next:

5. You will see an overview of the new changes and select “Submit.

6. Please repeat this for all Master and Data nodes.

Important note:

The EOS and EOL planning from EVS Common I/O reaches end-of-life on 01.01.2026 will affect all Open Telekom Cloud services that offers Common I/O as storage type.

Please also keep in mind that Common I/O will reach EOL on January 1st, 2026. In the meaning that it will be shut down and will stop working.

Further information can be found in Cloud Search Service documentation area of the Help Centers.
