GARTNER 2024: OpenShift is the leader of container management with the highest completeness of vision. With Cloud Create, you can now deploy a self-managed Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform on Open Telekom Cloud in 3 locations: Germany, Netherlands, and Switzerland with one-click button.
Where do I get the OpenShift license?
You bring your own license. The license is a subscription from Red Hat which covers support services from Red Hat, including: the underlying operating system RHCOS which OpenShift runs on, the OpenShift core components, and the developer and administrator tools within the OpenShift environment.
You can register a 60-days trial license from Red Hat with an email address. After registered, you can paste the license key in Cloud Create to deploy OpenShift.
What is a self-managed Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform?
Red Hat provides two ways to operate and use OpenShift: a full-managed and a self-managed OpenShift.
In a full-managed OpenShift, a joint SRE team from Red Hat and a cloud provider operate your OpenShift cluster, allowing you to focus on developing and deploying applications.
In a self-managed OpenShift, you have your own SRE team operating OpenShift and get direct support from Red Hat with the subscription. This solution is dedicated for organizations with high-sensitive data having a full control of data privacy (e.g., banking, health and insurance, public sectors from the government, etc.).
Can I monitor OpenShift through Cloud Eye and Cloud Trace?
Yes, you can use Cloud Eye and Cloud Trace to monitor all ECS, network, and storages created for the OpenShift cluster.
What is the minimum cost?
You pay for the OpenShift license with Red Hat and pay for the cloud resources you consume on Open Telekom Cloud with the minimum setup:
- 3 master nodes (each 4vCPU, 16GB RAM, 120 GB SSD)
- 2 worker nodes (each 4vCPU, 16GB RAM, 120 GB SSD)
- 2 floating IPs
