The new release of Cloud Container Engine(CCE) with Kubernetes version 1.21.7 is now available in EU-DE region. We recommend upgrading to the new version 1.21 in order to benefit from the security and other core improvements.
The important new features and updates of this release are listed below:
- The CCE cluster supports Kubernetes version 1.21

Provides the API for querying cluster quotas to the external API gateway. - API for Hibernation
Hibernate/Awake a cluster via API. - Data disk encryption of a worker node
Possibility to encrypt the data disks of worker nodes with KMS key. - Supports Dedicated Load-Balancer
Incorporation with Dedicated Load-Balancer(ELBv3). - Expiration date of downloaded Client Certificate
Enabled option to set expiration date for downloaded cluster certificate (console + API). - Two-Way Authentication for Domain Names
When an EIP/domain name of a cluster is modified, the server certificate will be updated automatically. - Supports Overlays
The Docker storage mode of CentOS is changed from devicemapper to overlayfs. - Optimisation of CCE Cluster Version Management
The format of cluster version number is changed to v1.21, and the original minor version number is not displayed anymore. - Optimisation of CCE master overload
CCE control plane node reserves resources for kubelets to ensure stability during overload. - In-Place Upgrade
Updates the Kubernetes components on cluster nodes without changing their OS version to reach Zero-Downime. Upgrade from v1.19 to v1.21 is available.
