MRS – new version and support of c4/m4 flavor

MapReduce Service (MRS) now offers new versions of the most common open source distributions based on the current c4 and m4 flavors.

These new software versions are available:

• MRS 1.9.2 is based on Hadoop 2 and available with several components
• MRS 2.1.0 includes Hadoop 3 and can work up to 30% faster than Hadoop 2

Compatibility with Hadoop 2

• Users who are still working with Hadoop 2 can use the updated version 1.9.2 because the major update of Hadoop 3 doesn’t preserve full API level compatibility.

New Features:

• Support additional flavor
  • additional memory optimized flavor m3.2xlarge.8 ,m3.4xlarge.8, m3.8xlarge.8
  • new generation of compute & memory optimized flavor (c4/m4) can be used for Master and Analysis Core Nodes
• Hybrid Cluster
  • The hybrid cluster function allows to deploy a cluster consisting of not only Streaming or Analysis Cluster components but both. This enables a more efficient resource usage and enhanced processing speed.
• Core node scaling
  • Allows to increase or decrease the actual node number to adopt to growing or shrinking resource utilization.
