MRS Common I/O storage class type will reach it’s EOS by
July 1st, 2025

As by previous Release Notes for EVS called  „EVS Common I/O erreicht End-of-Life am 01.01.2026“ this change will affect also MRS instance deployments.

From July 1st, 2025, onwards it will no longer be possible to create new MapReduce Service (MRS) using Common I/O disks, as it will reach their end-of-sales on this date and will no longer be marketed/available.

What does this mean for my current running/deployed MRS instances with Common I/O storage?

Existing instances with Common I/O will remain untouched and will be supported until they are changed into a higher class like High I/O or Ultra High I/O storage class. The new feature to change the storage type will be introduced in a separate release note by Elastic Volume Service (EVS) in Q2/2025 (later from this Release Notes).

Here the way how to modify the Common I/O disk specifications:

1) Select the instance:

8) Then execute the same to all other nodes in your MRS cluster.

Important note: Please also keep in mind that Common I/O will reach EOL on January 1st, 2026. In the meaning that it will be shut down and will stop working.

The EOS and EOL planning from  “EVS Common I/O erreicht End-of-Life am 01.01.2026“ will affect all Open Telekom Cloud services that offers Common I/O as storage type.

Further information can be found in MapReduce Service documentation area of the HelpCenters.
